Thailand

The beaches of Thailand are, quite rightly famous. The food is superb, the people very friendly, and the landscape is beautiful. What is there not to like? Add to this excellent shopping in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, World-class diving on both coasts, amazing Wats, rich culture, impossible language, easy transportation and it is cheap! Thailand is one of my favourite time-out destinations.

My only real problem with Thailand as a travel destination is that it is just too easy. The sadomasochist in me thinks Thailand is a great holiday, but needs more hardship to make it my favourite travel destination. Fortunately, Thailand has some harder neighbours like India, China, Cambodia and Burma that make it a wonderful place to recharge, get resupplied and wash in the warm sea.
